As a Man Thinketh: 21st Century Edition (The Wisdom of James Allen) Paperback – July 9, 2017
Purchase options and add-ons
James Allen's classic rephrased in contemporary language
Widely considered the greatest self-help book of all-time, As a Man Thinketh reveals how our thoughts shape our character and influence our circumstances, health, and achievements. The choice is yours: either master your mind to create the life you want, or remain mired in frustration and failure.
While James Allen's writing was exceptionally clear for its time, As a Man Thinketh—like any 100-year-old book—uses archaic language that can be difficult to grasp. In this 21st Century Edition, bestselling author Sam Torode entirely rephrases Allen's ideas in contemporary English, making his wisdom available to today's readers. It's also gender-neutral (except for retaining the original title), because this is a book for all humans.
This book is now also available in comic book format from PhilosoComics! Search for As We Think: James Allen's Guide to the Power of Thought by Sam Torode & Alexander Marchand, ASIN B08FP7LHRN.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 8, 2020Absolutely the best little book ever. This book should be read the first time with a highlighter and re-read often. I wholeheartedly agree that our thoughts direct our life. ENJOY! I had purchased the original copy at a thrift store years ago but I gave up reading it because it was a different style of language and couldn’t get through it as well as I wanted. I subsequently donated it back to them. I came across this one and bought it because it was written in today’s language and got great reviews. It will be in my library and in my head for a very long time to come. Do yourself a whopping favor and buy this book. It just might change your life for the better!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 22, 2017I've purchased "As a Man Thinketh" first in its original 1908 format, and I found the language to difficult to follow for such a slim volume. So I next spent a few cents and bought the kindle version of the New Century Version. And I devoured it. I read it like it was the very answers to all of my deep questions. But I'm not a big Kindle fan. So I bought the New Century version in the only format that was available; paperback. I'd rather have this in a hardback, because I know I'm going to be reading it over and over again.
The truths are simple yet profound. I'm presently reading "The Rewired Brain" by Dr Ski Chilton, and these two books have similar advice. One takes forty minutes to read. The other goes into the science of the brain and how to retrain your thoughts. I've been reading it for three weeks and I'm still working on it! I highly recommend this version of "As a Man Thinketh" for today's reader. Good information in a tight package.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 7, 2020A good short read. Simple to understand and serves as a stepping stone for more detailed books on the subjects.

This book is packed with principles that can help anyone improve their life! This book has taught me incredibly valuable information about the mind. As a Man Thinketh was a straight to the point, never dull, and a valuable tool that I will use going forward.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 25, 2020What has already been recognized (in over one hundred years time) as an inspirational classic on character-building, Sam Torode's 21st century contemporary version makes all the more accessible and inviting. First, the progressively building topics by chapter; enhanced by the very warm and lustrous Audible narration by the author. I will return to this delightful and motivating little tome frequently as a coach for my own fruitful self-development!!!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 19, 2023It’s a very inspirational and great navigational read on how to live a more fulfilling life. I highly recommend this book if you’re looking for a boost

5.0 out of 5 stars Penso, logo existo!
James Allen enuncia nesta obra princípios da lei da atração, mas não como vemos superficialmente em "o segredo". Aqui ele traça todo um raciocínio filosófico de altíssimo nível! Simplesmente, indispensável!
