I want to explain to you what affiliate marketing is, and break it down into plain, easy-to-understand language.
Affiliate marketing is the process of earning a commission by promoting someone else’s product or service.
Affiliate marketing is great, because you don’t have to create or sell a product or a service. You are simply sharing it with people you know, like family, friends, your followers, subscribers, etc.
When you join an affiliate program, you get an affiliate link so that the person who is selling the product or service can track which sales were produced by you, and who clicked on your link and made a purchase. This link is important because it ensures that you get paid.
When a customer clicks on the affiliate link, they go to the other persons website, and that is going to then sell them on the product or service. You get paid simply by sending traffic someone else’s way.

Affiliate marketing is always a win-win for everyone involved. The company has now acquired a customer or sale that they previously would have never gotten if it wasn’t for you.
It’s a win for you, because you can earn money and a commission, and you didn’t have to come up with the idea or spend the time/money to create a website or do the marketing, AND you easily get paid, simply by leveraging your subscribers, email list, or traffic in some way. Finally, its a win for the customer because they now benefit from the product or service.
I have been able to earn millions of dollars, just by promoting other people’s products, and its always a win-win. Why not share a product or service with my subscribers or followers, that has helped me in my life, and earn a commission doing so?
For example, I have a $500 Vitamix Blenderthat I use every day. They have an affiliate program, and they pay a 15% commission, which ends up being about $70. If I create content or a video for that product, I can earn money from it.
There are a few flaws with respect to affiliate links to keep in mind when it comes to affiliate marketing:
For example, lets say I have an affiliate link and you click on it, and you decide not to purchase the product right away, and you are using the Google Chrome browser. When you eventually decide to buy the product, lets say you decide to use the Firefox browser.
If you buy from a different browser, and its not tracked to my affiliate link, then I wont get a commission for that. The reason for this is that when someone clicks on an affiliate link, there is a cookie that is on their browser, so if someone clears their cookie on that browser, the tracking will disappear.
Another flaw is, lets say that someone clicks your affiliate link, but they decide to do further research before purchasing, and they find someone else who has a video or blog post, and who also has an affiliate link. They decide to click on their affiliate link, after clicking on yours, and so what happens is that they will end up getting the commission on it, instead of you, because its based on the last click.
I love affiliate marketing. Its a great way to make money. One of the greatest benefits is that you can use a lot of the things you are purchasing as a business expense, because any cost that’s incurred for business in order to make more money, is an expense for that business.
