Ken Blanchard & Margret McBride – The 4th Secret Of The One Minute Manager Book Review

After reading the popular management book The One Minute Manager by Ken Blanchard, I decided to pick up the sequel, The 4th Secret of the One Minute Manager by Ken Blanchard and Margret McBride.  I'd say that this book wasn't as good as the original #1 seller, but nonetheless, it had a good message that is extremely important.

Have you read my The One Minute Manager book review yet? If you haven't, click here first to learn the first 3 secrets before reading on as it will give you some context of what to expect.

Okay, are you ready for it?

The 4th Secret of the One Minute Manager is: The One Minute Apology!

The Toughest Part Of Turning Around A Bad Situation Is Realizing And Admitting That You Were Wrong.

The One Minute Apology

The first step is to admit to yourself that you've made a mistake and need to apologize.  Next is apologizing to that person as soon as possible, and being sincere.  Finally, you want to re-assure them that you won't make the same mistake again.

Without A Change In Your Behavior, Just Saying “I'm Sorry” Is Not Enough.

I found this a valuable lesson.  When you're in a management position, it can be challenging to admit that you're wrong or to apologize, especially when you have pride or a large ego.  It's a challenging thing to do.  But, throughout this book, I learned a lot about the process and how valuable it is for yourself and for others.

The Best Way To Apologize To Someone You Have Harmed Is To Tell That Person “I Made A Mistake, I Feel Bad About It And I'm Committed To Not Letting It Happen Again.”

If you enjoyed reading the book The One Minute Manager and want to take things to the next level, then I highly recommend The 4th Secret of the One Minute Manager.  It obviously goes into much further detail about the 4th secret and how it can really transform your life.  Click here to check it out on Amazon.
