Lance Armstrong – It’s Not About The Bike: My Journey Back To Life Book Review

One of the most recent books I’ve read is Lance Armstrong’s biography, titled It’s Not About the Bike: My Journey Back to Life. Incredible story.

I really didn’t know much about Lance Armstrong before picking up this book. I knew that he was a record-breaking seven-time winner of the Tour De France and a cancer survivor — which makes him an incredible inspiration to others. But, other than that, I had no interest in the cycling sport or anything else. But, nonetheless, I decided to pick it up.

After the first few chapters of this book, I was hooked. There are a lot of qualities of Lance Armstrong outlined in this book that is worth modelling for every human being.

For one, his “never give up” mentality. His mother taught him at a young age never to quit. Never give up. And in my opinion, this is the virtue that allowed him to overcome testicular cancer and to make his comeback to cycling, pushing himself to break the record of winning the Dour De France seven times!

When he was diagnosed with cancer, he was facing a lot of uncertainty. Doctors told him that he had a small chance to survive. Lance never gave up and was committed to overcoming the disease. He read books, studied it, and did everything possible to beat it. Lance believes that his emotional strength and determination played a major factor in overcoming the disease.

Everyone else gave up on him. His previous cycling team Cofidis that he had a 2-year contract with gave up on him. Nobody believed he’d be able to cycle again — yet alone survive the cancer. But, he showed them. Especially when he made his comeback, and then eventually win the Tour De France.

He was determined to win. He wouldn’t settle for anything less than that. He was committed. Nothing would stop him and he would never give up. That’s a winners mentality.

Lance Armstrong defied the odds.

After reading this book, learning about his experience with cancer sounds frightening. It makes me want to improve my health even further and to do everything possible to avoid such diseases. They say 2 out of 3 American’s die from cancer. 1 out of 2 die from heart disease. The statistics are staggering.

Studies remain to prove that cancer cells only live in a acidic environment, which motivates me to cleanse and nourish my cells as much as possible by consuming alkaline-forming, water-rich, nutritious foods (such as live fruits, vegetables and sprouts).

It's Not About The Bike is a tremendous book. Lance Armstrong clearly demonstrates the unlimited power of the human spirit – what we're capable of if we tap into our resourcefulness.  Not only that, but Lance has gone on to become a leader in the world – someone that provides inspiration and possibility to millions.  That is someone that I have huge admiration and respect for.

I recommend Lance Armstrong's biography, It's Not About The Bike: My Journey Back To Life to anyone that wants some extra inspiration in their life and wants to model someone who is extremely successful in life.  You won't be able to put it down.
