My Journey To The WBFF Fitness Modelling Competition – Part 1: My Commitment

Today is a special day for me – it's the day that I've made the DECISION and COMMITMENT to compete in the WBFF Fitness Modelling Competition on June 23rd, 2012 in Vancouver, BC.

I've put the stakes in the ground, and I'm getting the word out so that I have the added leverage to make it happen.

I've told my friends, my family, and am now announcing it to the public on my blog.  There is no backing down now – failure is not an option.  I've literally burned the boats, so now I'm forced to take the island.  That is what a REAL RESOLUTION is about.

This blog post is Part 1 of a series of blog posts coming to you over the next 5 months.  I will be documenting on this blog and sharing my entire journey and transformation.  I will be completely open and transparent about where I'm at and what I'm doing.  I will be putting up pictures, sharing my body fat, measurements, EVERYTHING.

You will get to see the transformation before your very eyes, and I will be motivated to be better every blog post to share my progress.

I will also be creating and sharing video blogs along the way, and I've uploaded the first one below to share where I'm at.

Check out my crazy video blog below:

As you can see from the video with my shirt off, I still have A LOT of work to do before I am ready to get up on stage and compete.

But, you need to start somewhere, right?

Below you'll be able to see exactly where I am as of February 18th, 2012.  It's important for me to measure my progress specifically, in detail – that way I can see whether or not my strategy is working or not, and if adjustments are needed.

You can't manage something if you don't measure it.

Progress Report: February 18, 2012

WEIGHT:  148 lbs.
BODYFAT:  10.7%
FAT-MASS:  15.61
FAT-FREE MUSCLE:  130.01

NECK:  14.5″
CHEST:  37″
SHOULDERS:  44″
RIGHT ARM:  12.5″
HIPS:  31″
WAIST:  28.5″
RIGHT CALF:  13″
RIGHT THIGH:  20.5″

NOTE: Body Fat, Fat-Mass, and Fat-Free muscle is measured on a body composition scale and isn't 100% accurate. I may be using Body Fat calipers in the future, but for now it's good to use the same form of measurement for consistency.

As of right now, I have currently joined Team Klemczewski, and have Dr. Joe Klemczewski as my Nutrition/Diet Coach over the next 5 months to make sure that I'm progressing the way that I need to be.  I've got the best of the best in my corner, as Dr. Joe has helped clients win over 150 Pro Cards and almost 50 Pro Titles.

While I have to be much more lean for my competition, right now Dr. Joe and I are working on building up a bit more muscle.  I used to be 185 lbs and have leaned myself out significantly over the last few months (which feels very weird being this skinny), but I most likely lost quite a bit of muscle mass in the process.  We'll be working to get some of the back, and then leaning out closer to the competition date.

It's going to be a challenging, fun, exciting journey – something that is going to force me to raise my standards and step up to an entirely new level in my life.

I most look forward to WHO I WILL BECOME in the process – an overall better, confident, stronger version of myself.  I'm on the path to fulfilling my potential as a human being, and by signing up and committed to a fitness competition – there is no better way.

On another note, I wanted to share another video with you of a segment I was watching of Oprah's Next Chapter with Tony Robbins.  In the video, they share one of their favourite segments from Tony Robbins Unleash The Power Within seminar that Oprah attended for her TV show.  It was on the topic of making things a MUST – burning the boat, so you take the island.
