Are you ready to start a YouTube channel?

Here is a sneak peek of our interview together, where Tatiana shares how she built her YouTube channel to 50,000 subscribers:

When did you start your YouTube channel, how did you start it, and what has the journey been like for you so far?

I never wanted to start a YouTube channel, but Stefan pushed me and I'm really grateful that he did because video is so important in today's world. A lot of people want to start a YouTube channel, but before you do, I would encourage you to find your reason why.

I really believe that it's an amazing asset to have for a business, especially if you are just starting out. It's also a great platform to use for people that have a special skill or talent, or for people who want to break through the barrier of being shy.

At first, filming yourself on Youtube can be an overwhelming experience. I encourage you to step outside of your comfort zone and just do it. This is one of the best ways to conquer your fears.

I decided to start my YouTube channel when I launched my Amazon business. I used my channel to do tutorials on my Amazon products and slowly it started to pick up traffic.

In the beginning stages, it feels as if you are talking to yourself a lot because nobody is watching your videos, which can be discouraging. However, the beauty of YouTube is that there is a compound effect. Once I hit 1,000 subscribers, I jumped to 10,000 very quickly. Now that I've hit 50,000 subscribers and I am impacting more people, I love to share my content even more, because I feel like I've created a real connection with my audience.

I started my YouTube channel about two years ago, and I was lucky because I found my niche right away. It's so important to find your niche because there are a lot of people who are sharing content online. You don't have to be so unique that you are the only person out there who is producing a specific type of content, but you do need to find your edge or something that differentiates you from the rest.

I decided that I wanted to become an expert in something on YouTube, and for me, that was waist training. From there, my YouTube channel grew, because people knew that if they wanted to learn about waist training, they could go directly to my YouTube channel and find the information that they were looking for.

When you first launched your YouTube channel and weren't getting a lot of views, what motivated you to keep going and not give up?

Everyone needs to start somewhere. It takes time to grow a YouTube channel. You need to have a positive mindset and keep reminding yourself that it is a process. I don't like to give up on anything, so that was a big motivating factor for me.

A lot of people feel self-conscious or insecure filming videos on Youtube. Did you have any fears around starting a YouTube channel? If so, how did you overcome them?

For two years I hid my YouTube channel from my family and friends. I didn't want anyone to know about it. I was really embarrassed about my videos and about speaking on camera.

It wasn't until about 6 months to 1 year ago that I got over it and thought to myself, “Screw this. People are obviously enjoying my content and I must be adding value to them, or else they wouldn't subscribe to my channel, so why am I so embarrassed?” It all comes down to building up your confidence.

Making the decision to share my YouTube channel all over social media was a big steppingstone for me. Keep in mind that, the more subscribers that you get, the more accountable that you are to them because they rely on you to continue producing quality content. The more likes, views and positive comments that you receive, the more confidence that you get.

Do you have any tips for someone that is just getting started on YouTube?

Live YouTube videos rank higher in the search engine results, so I would recommend that you do more of those if you want to get more traffic and followers. The same thing goes with other social media platforms, like Facebook or Instagram.

Live videos are great because they allow you to actually engage with your followers and it helps to build stronger connections with people. When it comes to creating eye-catching thumbnails that look professional, I love using Canva and Pixlr, which are free online photo editing tools.

You also need to make sure that your description and your title are keyword rich. A simple way to do this is to go into YouTube, type in the keyword that you want to use, and see what auto populates. This process will help you rank in the search engines as well.

Lastly, if you are trying to build a strong online brand or make a name for yourself, you can actually take your Youtube videos, crunch them down into 30-second clips, and post them onto your Instagram page or a blog post. Not everyone wants to watch a full YouTube video. By doing this, you can appeal to all of your followers. I love recycling my content because it takes time to put together a video and you want to use as much of it as possible.

I hope Tatiana's story inspires you to start building your own YouTube channel!

If you want to build a brand or a name for yourself, a YouTube channel is one of the easiest and most effective ways to do so. Believe in yourself and just start! Are you ready to share your message with the world? If not now, when?
