Learning Strategies: How To Learn Faster And 10X Better

I would like to share with you some strategies on how you can learn faster and 10x better.

A lot of people don’t know how to learn – they think that just sitting passively in front of a screen and listening to someone speak is learning.

That is a degree of learning, but it is of low quality.  Learning HOW to learn is one of the most important skills.

I believe in strategic learning.  Here are some strategies that will allow you to get results in your life and in your business:

#1 – Always invest in your learning as much as you can.

You will always get more value when you have paid for something versus getting something for free. This is a big mistake that people make.

For example, I just took 7 days away from my business to go to Tony Robbins’ 5-day Business Mastery seminar.  I paid $10,000 to attend.

I believe that investing in your learning and education is the best gift you can give yourself.  You need to give value in order to receive value back.

#2 – You get what you put into something.

You are responsible for you own education. If you invest in a book, a course, a seminar or a coach, its up to you to maximize the value that you are going to receive from that.

Always make sure that you capture as much as possible. If you just sit there passively, research shows that 30 days from now, you will only retain 10% of what you learn. If you take notes, retention goes up to 55%.  If you are engaged, youre retention goes up 80-90%.

Jim Rohn once said, “A life worth living is a life worth recording”.

I write down everything that moves and inspires me.  I always learn as if my life depended on this information, and as if I was teaching this to someone else.

When ever I learn I understand that repetition is the mother of skill – you cant just hear something one time and internalize it.  Repetition is king.

Bruce Lee said, I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times”.

I have invest in the same courses and attended the same seminars, multiple times.  For example, Ive attended Tony Robbins’ seminar, “Unleash the Power Within”, 7 times.  Ive read the same books multiple times.

You get a different perspective every time because you are in a different place in your life.

#3 – Real learning means investing in something that goes deep into certain subjects.

It is important the you invest in courses that have actionable steps, and that hold you accountable for achieving results.  I design my courses in such a way so that people are able to achieve maximum learning.

Similarly, if you hire a mentor or a coach, be willing to invest in that person over a period of 6 months or more.  Go deep and be prepared to put in the work, long-term.

#4 – When you learn things, make sure you review what you learn.

For example, after I attend a seminar, I take out my journal before bed, access my short-term memory, and write down everything I can remember that stood out for me from that experience.

When you do this, it activates and integrates that information deeper into your memory.

I also review my notes every day thereafter so that I can internalize the information, AND I share what I learn with others, which also helps with integration.

#5 – Applying and implementing what you learned.

The moment you learn something, put it into action right away. Don’t get into “analysis paralysis” – the death sentence for learning. Do not jump ahead.  If you leave it to later, you will no longer be in a peak state.

#6 – Cute off all possibilities of backing out of commitments.

If you have an exit, you will not get the maximum value from something. When I invest in something, I don’t back out. I commit, 100%. There is no plan B.

Adopt a master mentality when you invest and learn something.  If you do, you will learn faster and 10x better.
