Making money online is a long-term game.
Unfortunately, the Internet is inundated with so-called money “gurus” who sell people the dream of making fast money online. I hate to break it to you, but these are just get-rich-quick scams. Yes, these so called “proven” money-making schemes may help you make a few hundred or thousands of dollars in passive income in the short-term, but it won't be sustainable.
Building a successful online business takes a lot of hard work, time, energy and patience. It's not an easy task, which is why a lot of people quit early on. According to Forbes, 90% of startups fail. However, startups don't fail because they are startups.
Rather, they fail because the founders lack self-awareness, meaning they don't know what is actually involved in building a business. They have unrealistic expectations. When those expectations aren't met and they don't get the results that they want fast enough, they give up.
Living the laptop lifestyle is a very attractive and life-changing opportunity. When I was first introduced to it, I was instantly sold. I was willing to do anything in order to achieve success. Trust me when I say that the ability to make money while you sleep and be location independent is an unbelievable feeling.
When you taste this kind of freedom, there is no turning back.
However, there's no 12-step program for making money online. I'm not going to sugarcoat it… it's a grind. If you want to achieve success, long-term, you've got to be all in. You've got to get real with yourself and decide how much time and energy you are willing to invest in yourself and your business.
More importantly, you need to learn how to fall in love with the process and become less attached to the outcome. This is a concept that the most successful people in business have mastered. The trap that a lot of aspiring entrepreneurs fall into is viewing success as an event to be achieved.
However, the primary reason why successful people actually achieve their goals is that they are committed to the process. It's not the end goal that matters to them. Rather, it's the people who they become along the way. In essence, they fall in love with the daily practice of building their business. The results are just icing on the cake, so to speak.
This is the truth about making money online.
