ABOUT AFFILIATE MARKETING

Difficulty Level:
 Intermediate

Affiliate marketing is considered to be more of an intermediate business model as it's recommended to have already built a consistent stream of traffic, visitors, or subscribers through the Kindle publishing, blogging, YouTube, or podcasting models first. However, this free MasterClass can help you get started if you'd like to start with affiliate marketing.

Startup Costs: $100

The average startup costs for an affiliate marketing business is about $100.  The initial expenses would typically be a domain name, hosting, squeeze page, and e-mail management software to get started.

Avg. Timeframe: 1-6 months

The average timeframe before a newbie realistically expects to make money from affiliate marketing is 1 to 6 months.  If you already have an established Kindle publishing business, a blog that gets visitors, YouTube channel or podcast with subscribers, or an e-mail list, then you can start doing affiliate marketing and earning money right away.  However, if you are starting from scratch, expect it to take 1-6 months to build that up before you can start doing affiliate marketing.

Potential: $1,000,000+/year

The potential of an affiliate marketing business is a seven-figure income, over $1,000,000+ per year.

Passive: Yes

Affiliate marketing can be a passive business model.  However, it's always advised that you never fully neglect your online business as there's always potential changes that can occur online and you'd always want to keep an eye on your business.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

These are some of the most frequently asked questions that I get about affiliate marketing.

Q: How do I build a relationship with my subscribers and list?

A: By providing value and genuinely wanting to help your subscribers.  People will easily be able to tell whether you're sincere about wanting to help them or just trying to profit and take advantage of them.

This is only demonstrated by consistently serving and adding value, putting your subscribers' needs above your own.  If you happen to profit from a recommendation you make to your subscribers, then great, but that shouldn't be your focus.

Q: How do I find out what my list will be most interested in?

A: The best way to find out is to survey them and find out their needs, wants, desires, and challenges.  You can use SurveyMonkey to survey your list for free, or even just send out an e-mail to them and ask them to respond back to answer a few questions.

With anything that you promote or recommend, you'd always ideally want to make sure that you've benefitted from it personally and that it's something that will benefit your subscribers.

Q: How do I decide what products to promote to my list?

A: Ideally, you'd want to promote products that you've benefitted from personally and that there is an affiliate program available for.  Alternatively, you can find products or services to promote by searching through some of the affiliate networks mentioned below in Recommended Resources.

Q: What is the best way for me to get started with affiliate marketing?

A: Affiliate marketing is best utilized if you already have an audience, stream of visitors, or a list of subscribers.  It's best to start with something like Kindle publishing, blogging, or YouTube to publish content from, which then can allow you to build a list of subscribers that you can build a relationship with and market to.
