STOP BLAMING! TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR LIFE

Do you want to know the secret to success?  Stop blaming! Take responsibility for your life.

The word responsibility is comprised of the words response and ability, meaning “the ability to respond.” If you want to master your life, you need to realize that you are in the driver’s seat.

When you take responsibility for your life, you are telling the world that you aren’t a victim. We all have excuses and reasons for blaming external sources for our problems.

In the words of Einstein, “Man must cease attributing his problems to his environment, and learn again to exercise his will – his personal responsibility.”

Making excuses instead of taking responsibility for one's actions is the hallmark of people who fail to succeed in their personal and professional lives. Sometimes our B.S. is so good and believable that not only do we start to believe its validity, but other people buy into it as well. You need to understand that where you are right now in your life is a direct result of all the little decisions that you’ve made along the way.

Every time that you blame or B.S. yourself, you are giving away your power. When you do so, you don’t have any ability to change your current circumstance in life. This inferior mindset results in a life of pain and suffering.  You are 100% responsible for your life. Take ownership.

If you look in the mirror and don’t like what you see, make a change. It’s that simple. You need to get honest with yourself. How are you not showing up for your life? As Tony Robbins states, “The truth will set you free, but first it will piss you off.”

Getting honest isn’t easy. Sure, it doesn’t always feel good to take responsibility for unfortunate events that happen in your life. Holding onto resentment or blame satisfies the negative voice inside of your head that says, “Why me?” or “Life isn’t fair.” You may not always have control over events that happen to you, but you can always determine how you will react to them.

Learn how to master your emotions so that they don’t end up mastering you. People who take responsibility for their lives find the good in failure; they view an unfortunate event as an opportunity to grow. They are proactive, not reactive.

It wasn’t until I hit rock bottom and admitted to myself that I was blaming the world for my problems that everything changed in my life. I’ve studied so many great leaders in the personal development realm, like Tony Robbins, Jim Rohn, and Brian Tracy.

They have taught me that the first step to success in life is knowing that everything you are or ever will be is entirely up to you. Make intelligent decisions that move you closer to what it is that you want because it is the choices that you make every day that determine your destiny.

You can either give negativity power over your life or you can choose to take action and adopt a positive attitude.  You need to condition your mind for success. Stop blaming! Take responsibility for your life and change your story.  Therein lies the ultimate freedom. Steve Maraboli said it best, “Your life begins to change the day you take responsibility for it.”
