The Most Inspiring Moment Of My Life

I want to share a really powerful story with you.  It is an experience that will go down as one of the most inspiring moments of my life.

I was recently at the Tony Robbins Business Mastery event in Vegas. I would not be who I am today without the lessons and insights that I have learned from him.

There was one moment in the seminar that touched me deeply.  It was a moment that I will remember for the rest of my life.

At one point in the seminar, Tony Robbins was talking about financial freedom and the Three Buckets of Asset Allocation, which consist of security, growth and dream.

People were standing up and sharing their dreams, and one woman shared that her dream was to end human trafficking.  She works for an organization called, “Operation Underground Railroad”, run by Tim Ballard, a former FBI agent.

This organization assists governments around the world in the rescue of human trafficking and sex trafficking victims, with a special focus on children. Tony Robbins asked the woman how much it would cost to initiate a sting operation to catch the traffickers.  She expressed that it would cost about $50,000.

Without even thinking about it, Tony said that he would give $100,000 to Operation Underground Railroad, to support the end of human trafficking. All of a sudden the room was silent. People were in awe.  Ten minutes later, a man stood up and expressed that he wanted to give $10,000.

Within a 20-minute period of time, there were over 100 people standing in line to give money.  I was overcome with emotion, and I felt drawn to contribute. However, in that moment, my fear of scarcity took over me.  It was something that I have struggled with for years.  I’ve had times in my life where I was so broke, and I wanted to give, but I couldn’t.

I have always wanted to be a giver. That is the identity that I want to cultivate, and so I made a choice to conquer my fear, and I contributed to the organization. $1.4 million was raised in 20 minutes, and Tony Robbins matched a lot of the contributions.

It was a transformational experience for me in overcoming my fear and also knowing that my contribution was going to save a child’s life, and help put an end to human suffering. It was a beautiful reminder of why I do what I do. If I could start this journey all over again I would have invested more in myself and cultivated a habit of giving more.

Tony Robbins once said, “I am on a mission to help people grow and give. The more they grow, the more they can give, the more life they build, the greater the quality of their life”. I am a giver today because of other people’s examples of generosity and contribution.  The more you give, the more you grow.

If we all contribute more, I believe that human consciousness will elevate and we will be able to solve some of the biggest challenges in the world today. I hope that I have been a positive example of the spirit of contribution and the potential that exists within you.  Be bigger than yourself. Make an impact. Be a force for good.

In the words of Margaret Mead, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has”.
