My Complete Journey To The WBFF Fitness Model Competition

This video and blog post is long overdue, but I did it!  I successfully reached my goal of competing in the WBFF Fitness Model Competition on June 23rd, 2012 in Vancouver, BC.  It was one of the most incredible experiences of my life, and something that I can always look back and feel proud of.

If you followed my previous Fitness Progress Reports, you'll know the dedication and level of commitment that I had to make this a reality.  More than actually achieving the goal of walking up on stage and posing in front of an audience of people, the entire journey itself was life-changing.  The mental strength that I developed - the discipline, work ethic, and commitment - will be something that I carry with me for the rest of my life in my future endeavours.  The process you go through to build a great body is really no different than achieving any other goal in life.  The principles remain the same.  This entire experience has really just created a deeper sense of confidence and faith that I can make any dream a reality.… [Read more...] about My Complete Journey To The WBFF Fitness Model Competition

Day In The Life: Food Preparation For WBFF Contest Day

On the Friday morning before the WBFF competition, I decided to prepare all of my meals in advance so that I can be as organized as possible during contest day.  My coach had put together a plan for me called "Peak Week" which would be the protocol I followed the week before, and exactly what to do during contest day.  I decided to make a fun "Day In The Life" video of the preparation, so you can see and follow along exactly what I did to look my best for the contest.

Fitness Progress Report #8: How To Achieve Your Fitness Goals

Only 3 days remaining until the WBFF Fitness Model Competition on June 23rd, 2012 in Vancouver.  I've been focused on peaking this last week with my coach, lowering my sodium levels and manipulating the water in my body.  I'm very excited, because I'm so close to achieving my goal and commitment that I set out back in February in my Journey To The WBFF Fitness Model Competition video blog.

Fitness Progress Report #7: 17 Days Remaining Until WBFF

Only 17 days remaining until the WBFF competition on June 23, 2012 in Vancouver, BC!  I've been very consistent these last two weeks, since my last Fitness Progress Report, and things are coming along well.  I've been lowering carb intake slowly, as instructed by my coach, and have been starting to tighten up a bit more.  It's a very fine line between getting really lean, without losing much of my size.  But I've noticed these last two weeks that I've gotten smaller after taking my measurements.

I recently just bought my speedo swim trunks for my competition and have been starting to practice posing a bit more.  It's an area I don't know much about, but am just trying to practice and learn as much as I can from watching videos on YouTube.  I've also begun visualizing myself competing more and more, to give myself that sense of certainty and comfort.  There's a book that I picked up called Psycho-Cybernetics by Maxwell Maltz that I was recommended by a friend who competed before, which I'll be reading over the next two weeks.… [Read more...] about Fitness Progress Report #7: 17 Days Remaining Until WBFF

Fitness Progress Report #5: Beginning Fat-Loss Phase

I'm 6 weeks away from the WBFF Fitness Modelling Competition on June 23rd, 2012 and my coach has just this last week instructed me to start lowing my daily calories to commence my fat-loss phase. After my last Fitness Progress Report two weeks ago, I was weighing in around 152.9 lbs. The highest my weight has peaked was around 155 lbs last week, and now it's slowly starting to come down around 154 lbs. My goal for the competition is to be around 147-148 lbs and 4-5% body fat.

Since my very first Fitness Progress Report on February 18 to May 1, 2012, I've been focused on gaining muscle and adding a little bit more size, while keeping body fat very minimal. During that time (2.5 months), it looks like I've gained about 6-7 lbs.
