Is the Coronavirus impacting eCommerce sales?
The Coronavirus pandemic has affected the entire world. People are losing their jobs on a massive scale. 6.6 million people in the U.S. have applied for unemployment benefits, and that number keeps growing. It's fair to say that the economic impact of the virus has been far-reaching.
Tatiana and I feel very fortunate to have eCommerce businesses during these difficult times. Tatiana's business is still running. Shockingly, since the Coronavirus pandemic started, sales have been going up in her business.
In March alone, she made $161,000 on Shopify and $23,000 on Amazon. If you're interested in starting an online business on Amazon or Shopify, Tatiana is a great person to learn from. She has built a million-dollar business from scratch.
I wanted to take the opportunity to pick her brain about Amazon & Shopify and what she is doing right now in her business that is working. Watch the video above where Tatiana gives you a sneak peek inside of her Shopify and Amazon accounts.
Let's dive in!
What is your theory as to why your Amazon & Shopify sales went up during March?
By no means is my product a necessity. The fact that my sales have increased is really interesting and surprising. I think it comes down to the nature of my product. It's a product that people wear around the house. A lot of people are under quarantine right now. It's providing them with a greater opportunity to use my product more often. If things get really bad with the economy I do anticipate a drop in sales. I am preparing myself for that.
What is your profit margin?
My profit margin is at about 60%. That is quite high for an eCommerce store. However, keep in mind that my sales are organic. I don't spend any money on advertising. This is why I have such a high-profit margin. If you can choose a product that can be sold as a higher ticket, that's great!
As you improve the quality of your product, you can price it higher.
My waist trainers were initially selling on Amazon for $23. Today, they sell for $60. That's a huge price difference. Over time, all I've done is to improve the quality of my product, based on customer feedback. I have a Facebook page which has been a great resource for me in terms of receiving feedback from my customers. In turn, I've been able to create a better customer experience. This helps differentiate me from other brands selling on Amazon.
What do you see right now as an opportunity with Amazon?
A lot of people who were once resistant to online shopping are now being forced to learn how to do it. This means that more people are signing up for Amazon accounts and becoming customers. I think this will become the new norm.
Once people make their first purchase on Amazon they will realize how easy it is and stick with that. We were already heading in this direction before Coronavirus. The trend towards eCommerce shopping is only going to grow from here on out. The best way that you can use all of the spare time that you have right now is to prepare a new income stream and protect your financial future.
What tips would you give to someone who wants to get started selling on Amazon?
If you want to build an eCommerce business, my recommendation is to start selling on Amazon. That's where I started. In the beginning, nobody would have purchased my product if I wasn't on Amazon. People trust Amazon and that's why people buy from me.
Amazon is a search engine.
If someone types in your brand name or a keyword that is related to your brand, your listing may show up. On Shopify, this doesn't exist. You have to market yourself even more on Shopify than you do on Amazon. Once you start doing well on Amazon, you can open up a Shopify store and slowly move your customer base to that platform.
If you want to shorten your learning curve and fast track your success, I suggest purchasing a course. That's what Stefan and I did. We recommend the Amazing Selling Machine (ASM). They give you the step-by-step guidance that you need to get real results. Their system has changed thousands of people's lives.
This is real proof that Amazon & Shopify are here to stay.
If you want to learn more about ASM and the bonuses that I provide if you purchase the course through me, check out the links below. I also recommend Marketplace Superheroes. It is not as good as ASM, but it's still a high-quality course and it's cheaper.

If you're looking to make short-term money, do not start an eCommerce business. You won't get-rich-quick on Amazon or Shopify. It takes time to launch your product and get it up and running. However, if you are willing to put in the effort to build a business the right way, you will thrive as soon as the economy gets better. I know that times are tough, but I trust that the best is yet to come.
If time and motivation are on your side right now, use them wisely. Your financial future will thank you for it.
