A landing page is a page that offers something of high perceived value (also known as an ethical bribe) that you give away for free, in order to collect an e-mail address and build an e-mail list.
I'm sure you've seen squeeze pages or landing pages before, as they're quite common online. Many businesses use them as a way to add value and cultivate a relationship with an audience.

How To Make A Landing Page
Years ago, making a landing page was complicating, challenging and expensive. Today, it's easier than ever. There's websites and tools available to make building a landing page easy and fast. In my business, I use LeadPages to make a landing page within minutes, since LeadPages provides easy to use templates that are easy to edit.
I'd say that LeadPages has by far the best, most attractive landing page templates that convert extremely well. They also have their “optin box” features that help boost conversions to help you get more e-mail subscribers, as well as some great tracking features which I benefit a lot from.
Here's an example of a LeadPage that I use for one of my businesses:
As you can see, in the above landing page I'm giving away a FREE “Weight Loss Kickstart” e-book. In order to get the e-book, the person just has to click the big orange button and they'll be asked to enter their name and e-mail to get access to it.
When someone enters their name and e-mail address, they automatically get subscribed to my e-mail list and will receive the bonus e-book that I promised them.

In order to collect e-mail addresses and build an e-mail list, I use a website called Aweber.
Aweber is what allows you to collect e-mail addresses and communicate with your e-mail list. Aweber is known as an e-mail autoresponder service, which allows you to send automated follow-up messages to your e-mail subscribers, as well as broadcast e-mails at anytime you want.
LeadPages and Aweber integrate nicely together, as you can create as many landing pages and e-mail lists as you choose amongst the two. I personally use dozens of landing pages throughout my business, which makes it very easy and fast to build segmented lists of subscribers. There are other alternatives for making landing pages, however, I haven't found any as good or as worth using than LeadPages and Aweber.
When making a landing page, it's important to ensure that your landing page is attractive and will have a high conversion rate. When you're sending traffic to it, you want to be able to split test different pages to see which one converts better and always optimize it to get a better conversion rate. The goal is to get as many people to subscribe to your e-mail list as possible.
When building an e-mail list, it's important to ensure you are using a service with high e-mail deliverability, such as Aweber. You want to make sure that when you send a broadcast e-mail, that as many people as possible will receive that e-mail. You also need to make sure you have an autoresponder follow-up series available, so that you can send automated e-mail followups once someone subscribes to your e-mail list.
