I want to share with you the power of the life mastery circle exercise. I learned this exercise from Tony Robbins, at his “Unleash the Power Within” seminar.
I want to show you how you can master every area of your life, in order ensure that you are making progress and living a life of balance.
The life mastery circle provides a visual map for you to see where you are strong, and where you are falling behind, so that you know where you need to make the necessary adjustments.
You want to make sure that you are growing and improving yourself in every aspect of your life. The life mastery circle has massively contributed to my pursuit of life mastery.

I do this exercise every month, because I believe that the more you measure your growth and potential, the more power and success that you will have, long-term. I now integrate this life mastery circle exercise into my monthly goals report and walk you through the different areas of my life in a very transparent way.
I am all about life mastery. My brand is built upon this concept. It’s my passion. I believe that it mastery is an on-going process.
Every aspect of life works together. If one area is weak, it has the potential to effect the other areas as well, which is why it is imperative that you master every area of your life.
There are 6-9 universal areas of your life that you need to focus on and improve. As you continue to develop the skills, behaviours, and attitudes that reinforce mastery, you will achieve your desired results. What do you desire for your life? Everyone is different.
These are the 7 most important areas of my life:
- Body (health and fitness)
- Mind and Emotions (psychology and beliefs)
- Relationships (intimate)
- Family
- Social/friends/fun
- Business/Career
- Money/Finances
- Spirituality (religion, meditation practice)
Before you break down the core areas of your life, you need to know what your ultimate vision is, for each area. Every month I analyze each area of my life, on a scale from 1-10. Keep in mind that my 10 is going to be different from your 10.
Body – 7
I live a very healthy lifestyle, but I’m not where I want to be, and that’s the process of life mastery. You are always raising your standards and vision.
Mind and Emotions – 8
The 10 I desire is high levels of happiness, joy, and gratitude. I’m at an 8 right now, but I know that 10 is perfect, and I don’t believe that perfection exists. I’m after the progress, so the highest I want to achieve is a 9 or 9.5
Relationship – 8.5
My girlfriend and I have been together for 2 years now. She is greatest blessing in my life, but there is always room for growth in any relationship.
Family – 6
I have a good relationship with my family, but I know that it could be better. I travel a lot for my business, and sometimes I miss important family events. I need to improve this area so that I continue to nurture those relationships. One of my goals is to do a family trip.
Social – 6.5
There is still more that I would like to explore with my friends. I spend a lot my time in my business, and so its important that I balance that with social time. I am more of an introvert, so I’m totally cool spending a Friday night alone. It helps to recharge for me for my busy work weeks.
Business – 8.5
I have huge aspirations for my business. I’m crushing it right now, but I need to hire more people and remove myself from the operations aspect of my business, and optimize things so that I can continue to grow.
Money/Finances – 8
As I’ve grown my business over the past few years, I now have bigger aspirations than making $1 million/year. I want to strive for $5-10 million. I want to contribute more, build other businesses and expand on a massive scale.
Spirituality – 7
Spirituality for me relates to my connection with God, my relationship with myself, my level of consciousness, and the level of gratitude and presence that I operate at on a daily basis. I have an amazing relationship with God but I want to expand that, which is why I am doing a 10-day silent Vipassana meditation retreat this summer.
Keep in mind that when you through this process, you have to be honest with yourself. Ask yourself, where are the weakest areas of my life and how can I improve those areas to bring it to an 8, 9, or 10?
When you do so, your life has power and you are living on your terms. That is the ultimate position you want to be in.
Tony Robbins once said, “Live life fully while you're here. Experience everything. Take care of yourself and your friends. Have fun, be crazy, be weird. Go out and screw up! You're going to anyway, so you might as well enjoy the process. Take the opportunity to learn from your mistakes: find the cause of your problem and eliminate it. Don't try to be perfect; just be an excellent example of being human.”
Be proactive in growing and improving every aspect of your life. Become a master of your life!
Video transcript
Hey everyone! Stefan here from ProjectLifeMastery.com. In this video, I'm going to share with you what is called the “Life Mastery Circle”, and show you how you guys can use this to measure each aspect of your life in order to ensure that you are making progress, and that you are living a life of balance. This is a process that I originally learned from Tony Robbins at his “Unleash the Power Within” seminar. In fact, the first time I ever did this exercise was probably when I was 21 or 22 years old.
I had met Tony's brother-in-law, Scott Humphrey, who lives here in Vancouver. That's where Tony's wife's family is from. He was putting on a workshop to promote Unleash the Power Within. That's the first time that I signed up and went to the seminar, when I was about 21 or 22 years old. He took us through this process, which allows you to measure each area of your life, to see exactly where you are strong, and where you are falling behind, so that you can make the necessary adjustments, so that you can live a life of balance.
Make sure that you're growing and you're improving yourself in every aspect of life
This is something that has really made a big difference to my life and something that I've done on an ongoing basis ever since I learned it. It's something that I've done every month for years. At one point, I was doing it every single week. I believe that the more that you can measure each area of your life, the more power that you are going to have in that area, and the more you are going to be successful in that area.
The more that you check in on that, the more that you can measure it and make the necessary adjustments in order to ensure that you are on the right track. This is something that I am now integrating into my monthly goals reports. I've always done this in private, but I want to do this more in public to hopefully inspire you to use this exercise in your life. I want you to be able to use this process in order to measure where you are at, and to have a visual representation of it.
I just did a monthly goals report. I introduced this a little bit more and actually walked you through the different areas of my life and exactly where I'm at. I'm going to go over them again in this video, but make sure you follow along with my monthly goals reports to learn a little bit more about how I'm using this in my life. As you guys know, I'm about life mastery. I believe that you have to master each area of your life.
It's not just about setting goals to make a lot of money or to have a really great body, but you want to make sure that you are making progress in every aspect of life, because every aspect of life is important. Every aspect of life works together. This is about life mastery, and my brand is Project Life Mastery because I believe it's an ongoing project. It's an ongoing journey to master anything. It's not like you just do something one time and you've mastered it.
It's an ongoing process and I want to share with you how it works
Basically, the concept is that there's six, seven, eight or nine primary areas of your life that you need to continuously focus on, grow and improve. It's different for everyone, in terms of what those areas might be, but there's a few that are universal amongst every human being. For me, I'll share what mine are, but you can play around with it, whatever way that you choose.
It's about you creating the life that you desire, on your terms, not the life that I have or someone else has, but what you want for yourself and your life. For me, the primary areas that I focus on in my life are, #1, my body. My body is my health and fitness. By the way, those are two different things. You can actually break down one to health and one to fitness if you want. There's a lot of people that are physically fit, but they are not healthy. They have a ton of acid in their body.
They eat really unhealthy. They might look good physically or have great genetics, but they have disease growing in their body. They always get sick and they lack vibrance and energy. For me, my body is health and fitness. Health is always more important than fitness. Number two is mind and emotions – your mindset, your psychology, your beliefs and the emotional quality of your life.
That can be the level of happiness, joy, fulfillment, gratitude, peace, love, fun, adventure, and laughter that you experience, or it could be the amount of depression, anger, frustration, fear, overwhelm, stress, and all the negative emotions as well. Mindset and your emotions – that's the core and the foundation, everything along with your body. Next is your relationships. I categorize this one as my intimate relationship with my girlfriend.
I've got an amazing girlfriend. I've been with her over two years now. Some of you guys met her on a recent YouTube video that we did, the live stream. Intimate relationships could also be if you are single, the pursuit of attracting a partner in your life. It could be your marriage, boyfriend, girlfriend, whatever that might be. Your family, I break that down into a separate area as well. How much your family is growing, the love, and the connection that you have with your family.
Social friends and fun. Now, you can combine this with family if you want. You could shorten it if you choose, but I separate that. My social life, the friends, people that I'm meeting, the fun that I'm having in my life. Again, you can categorize this however you choose. Business, your career, your school, your job, your mission, your purpose, whatever you want to call it. For me, I actually call it my mission, my purpose in life. That would fit in this category of your life right here.
There are money and finances, which are very important as well. That's separate from your business or career because your career or business is just a vehicle to make money. You can make a lot of money and still be broke. You can earn a lot of money but still be going bankrupt because it's not about how much you earn, it's about what you do with what you earn, and how you manage your money. Having your money work for you is very important. Financial freedom. Financial abundance. Financial independence. That fits right there.
Lastly, your spiritual life, your spirituality. That could be your religion or your religious beliefs. It could be your spiritual beliefs about God or the universe. It could be your capacity to grow and to give. It could be your meditation practice, whatever that is for you. You've got to decide what that is and you've got to make sure that you're making progress in that area because we are spiritual beings. Hopefully, you believe that. Hopefully, you're not so stuck inside your head that you can't understand that there's more than what we understand and what we are.
We have a spirit, a soul, something that's greater than ourselves. I choose to believe that. That empowers me greatly in my life. These are the different areas. Again, you can shorten it to six or seven. You can make it more if you want. You want to create a circle like this. Here are the core primary areas of my life that I want to continuously focus on and improve. Really, the step before this is that youve got to know what your ultimate vision is for each area of your life.
What is your ultimate goal?
What is it that you really want for your body, for your spirituality, for your business and finances? What is your ultimate vision? What is your 10 in that area? If you don't even know what that is, and what you are after, then how are you going to measure and find out exactly where you are? You have got to have that vision of what that is. Define what that is for you. For example, the way it works, is that every single week or every single month, I check in on each area of my life.
I have a vision and goals for each area. For my body, I say, “Where am I on a scale from zero to 10 in terms of where I want to be? Where am I right now in my physical body?” My 10 is going to be different than your 10. For me, my 10 in my physical body is to be 170 pounds, 6 to 7% body fat, to have unstoppable, vibrant energy, to be sleeping six hours a night. Just to be a total insane, fit, healthy machine. For some, that might be a 15, or it might be even less than that.
Everyone is different. Maybe your 10 is to be 12% body fat or 15% body fat, or maybe it's just a certain level of health, energy, or vitality. Whatever that is for you. Everyone has different goals and different terms and definitions of what their 10 is. For me, I just did this process. I would go through it again with you guys. For me, if I was honest with myself, on a scale from zero to 10, where am I right now? I'd say about a seven. I'm in great shape right now. I do a lot of fit things. I'm very healthy.
If you guys follow me on social media and on Snapchat, you see the juicing, the rituals. The things that I do to stay healthy. Again, I'm not where I want to be. It always changes too, because that's the path of mastery, is that life is a process. It's not like you finally get to where you want to be in life, and life is all of a sudden perfect, and then that's it. Thats not how it works. You are always raising your standards. You are always raising your vision.
Once you eventually get to an eight or nine, then your vision expands. You have bigger goals that always motivate you, and you are always driving to continuously make progress in this area. Mind and emotions. Again, it's your mindset, your beliefs, your psychology, and the emotions that you experience. For me, the 10 that I desire and that I'm after is high levels of happiness, joy, freedom, peace, and gratitude.
If I were to be honest where I am at right now, I would say about an eight out of 10. I am totally happy in my life. I'm very blessed with the life that I have, and I get to do what I do, but I know that I can still grow and improve. For me, personally, there's never a 10. A 10 is when you stop growing. A 10 is when everything is perfect. For me, nothing is ever perfect. Perfectionism doesn't exist. If you are trying to pursue perfection, you are going to be pursuing that forever.
I'm more after the progress
The highest I'll ever get is maybe like a 9 or a 9.5 out of 10. Usually, my bar, my standards, and my vision is always growing in my life. It's never stagnant. Relationships, I put 8.5. For me, that's my relationship with my girlfriend. I've been with my girlfriend Tatiana for over two years now. Amazing. The greatest gift to my life. Ive never met a better human being, so I feel very blessed for that. There is still room for improvement. There is still growth to be made there as well, but we've got a really great relationship.
My family, I put at a 6 out of 10. For me, I've got a great family life and I communicate with everyone in my family. I have good relationships with them, but I know it could be better. I travel a lot and sometimes I miss some family holidays that we have or dinners. I don't always make it to my nieces' and my nephews' birthday and things like that because I'm traveling, and so I want to improve and grow those relationships more.
For example, one of my goals is to do a family trip, a cruise, or something like that to really bond with my family. I think sometimes when you grow in your life, you get busier, and you've got to make sure that you don't let being too busy distance you from your family. That's something I want to work on more and that I can definitely improve. Social friends and fun, I put about 6.5, but it's probably more.
I've been having a lot of fun lately with my friends. I had a great housewarming party here, a barbecue, sometimes soccer. I went to a UFC event that was here in Vancouver last weekend. There's still more that I'd like to explore with my friends. Definitely, when I travel, that's where I have a lot of fun, or when I'm spending time with my girlfriend, but I could definitely have a lot more fun in my life because I spend most of my time in my business. That's where the majority of my time goes.
That's what fulfills me the most as well. I think I could balance out these areas a little bit more. I'm more of an introvert by nature, to be honest, and so I like to be by myself at times. That's how I recharge. Sometimes I'm totally cool spending a Friday night just by myself, relaxing and recovering, and just being alone. That helps to recharge me for the week.
Business, career, for me, is an 8.5 out of 10. I have huge aspirations for where I want to be in my business. I'm crushing it in my business. I love it. What I need to improve right now in my business is that I need to hire more people. I need to bring in more of a team. I need to bring in more management. I need to remove myself more from the operations side of the business and optimize things, and create a better foundation for all the systems and procedures in my business. I need to make sure I've got a good foundation in place so that I can grow even further.
I can definitely improve there, but it's strong. My money and finances, I put an 8. Like I said, everyone is different. For some people, making a million dollars is a 10. Other people making a $100,000 is a 10. Some people making $10 million dollars is a 10. For some, $100 million or a $1 billion. It totally depends on what your vision is, or what you want for your life. There was probably once a time in my life where making $1 million a year, or being where I'm at right now was a 10.
Now, as I've grown, I have bigger aspirations
I want to build a business and be earning $10 million. I want to be able to give more and contribute more. I want to be able to grow more. I want to be able to build my business more, and faster, and build other businesses and do really incredible things. For me, that's where I'm at right now is an 8 out of 10. Spirituality, I've got as a 7. For me, my spirituality is my connection with God.
It's my relationship with myself. It's my growth, the giving, the contribution in my life, the level of gratitude, the presence, and the level of consciousness that I'm operating at. For me, that's all my spirituality. I've got an amazing relationship with God. I communicate every day, but I want to go deeper. I want to expand that even further. I'm doing a meditation retreat, Vipassana, later this month, a 10-day summit meditation retreat, where I will be meditating in silence for 10 days. It should be a lot of fun and I'll massively expand my spirituality in that moment.
There's definitely more that I have in the vision of what I want to accomplish there, and what I want to grow. By going through this process, once you basically mark off each area and you put, “I'm a 7 there. I'm an 8 there. I'm a 6 there”, you've got to be totally honest, because this is only for you. Nobody else. You've got to draw out the circle. Be honest. You might be a 2. You might be a 1. You might be a 4. That's totally okay.
You've got to be honest with yourself, because the moment you are honest about where you are, that's when you have the power to change it. That's when you take the responsibility and you take the necessary actions to grow and improve that area. Be honest. There once times for me when my money was a 2. I have that somewhere in my journals. I was frustrated because I was barely getting by. I was in debt.
Be honest with yourself and identify where you are
I was making $1,500 a month, barely surviving, living in my friend's living room. That was a 2 out of 10. My body was once a 4. My mindset, I was once depressed. That was probably a 1, to be honest with you guys. My relationship, I was once a 2 or a 3. I've been there where this has been crap. Because I always measured it, and I always focused on how I could improve each area, I've been able to grow and expand the different areas of my life. Like I said, it's a never-ending process.
What you want to do is you want to be honest with yourself. Identify where you are at in each area. Then you've got a wheel like this. You have got a circle. Now, you can see where are the weakest parts of my life right now. For me, it's my family. It's my social, my fun. What could I do to bring this to a 7? What could I do to bring this to a 8 or 9? I think one thing I could do is I could schedule a meeting with my family. I could plan a trip. I could plan a get-together, a dinner, a fun activity. Just by doing that alone, that can raise this from a 6 to a 6.5 or a 7.
Same thing with my friends. I could plan a get-together. I could have more fun. I could create some structure, different activities, travel trips, things of that nature, and I could grow this as well. If I think how can I enhance my finances, my money, what are the things I could do for that? Maybe I could invest a little bit more money. Maybe I could earn more money in my business. Maybe I could read a book on investing or money. I can make little changes. I can pay off some of my debt.
Those are things you could do. Maybe in your business, your career, or your school, you could take more action. You could get resources, coaching, or things that can help you grow in that area as well. Same thing with your body. You can join a new gym, a workout program, a class, change your diet a little bit, or get into juicing, smoothies, or whatever. Get a treadmill desk.
There's so much you could do to enhance each area of your life
You want to be resourceful and know where you are at and think, “How can I improve each area of my life? How can I bring each area to as close as 8, 9, or 10 as possible?” When you are living 8, 9, or 10, your life is amazing. Your life is at the peak. Your life is balanced. Your life has power to it. You are living life on your terms. That's the ultimate position that you want to be in.
Hopefully, this can help you guys understand this process and the power of this. Like I said, I give full credit to this to Tony Robbins. You know how much he has shaped my life. He shaped my life since I was 17 years old. I highly recommend everything that he puts out. This is something of his that has really made a big impact in my life. If I can share that with you, and help you in your own process of life mastery, then that's my goal. That's why I do what I do.
Hopefully, this will help you out. I recommend going through this process. I'm going to update you guys on this in my life every month. It's part of my monthly goals reports as well. If you can, I recommend doing this every week. Again, just be proactive in growing and improving each area of your life. That's it for this video, guys. Thank you so much for watching this video.
