This single Mom makes $75k/month on Amazon FBA.
Tiffany spent most of her life struggling with obesity. Eventually, she got to a point in her life where she was ready to make a radical change. She decided to be brave and publicly document her weight loss journey with the world on social media. Once this happened, she received hundreds of messages from people who wanted to know how she did it.
Here is a sneak peek of my interview with Tiffany where we talk about her amazing journey with Amazon and how taking a leap of faith transformed every single area of her life.
Can you share a little bit about yourself and your Amazon story?
Back in 2014, I found out that I was pregnant. The whole thing was a big mess. Ultimately, I had to move from California to Florida so that I could be with my family. I needed help. During this time I also had a 4-year old and no job. I was living in my Dad's movie theater room in his house and was trying to think of anything that I could do to make some money.
Eventually, I started working a regular job for $10 per hour doing customer service work. Immediately I knew that it wasn't going to pay my bills. Having my son in school and having my daughter in daycare was going to be $400 dollars per week. What job was I going to make that was going to make that amount of money?
I didn't go to high school, so I didn't have a GED.
This was when my Dad was introduced to ASM. He had me doing some stuff for him and he was paying me for it. Through this process, I started to learn about the course. I would work on the course during my 15-minute lunch breaks and then during the evening.
Three months later, I ended up purchasing ASM. After I got the ball rolling, I started my own account with Amazon selling baby skin-care products.
You've been able to inspire a lot of people through your weight loss journey. When did your physical transformation unfold?
Once my financial panic started to dwindle, I had time to focus on myself. It was something that I had never done in my entire life. I actually used to take pride in how non-selfish I was. My kids were everything. I always came second. However, one day I woke up and realized that I needed to take care of myself.
I wanted to become a better person so that I could take better care of my kids. I hit 230 pounds. That wasn't even my highest weight. There was a moment when I was standing in the front of the mirror and thinking, “What am I doing? I'm 24 years old and I'm incapable of doing anything physical.”
I knew that I was missing out on such a big part of life. One day later I made the decision to start my weight loss journey. I went dairy-free and gluten-free. I thought about my eating habits and the triggers that were throwing me over the edge. It was bread, pasta, and cheese. Instead of going on a restrictive diet, I chose to eliminate a couple of things. It was a complete lifestyle change for me.
At some point, I hit a plateau.
At this point, I started working with a personal trainer. We came up with a meal plan together and worked on the mental aspect of weight loss. We talked about what triggers certain things in your brain to cause cravings. There are now 44,000 people on my 21-day meal plan Instagram page which is so exciting. Watching people transform their lives because of what I've been through is amazing, especially after everything that I've been through.
I used to have no control of my life and now I'm changing women's lives, all because I was able to be set free financially. The wonderful thing about Amazon is that it's not a thing that requires you to work 12-15 hours per day. Rather, it's something that you get up and running, and then it takes care of itself. Ultimately, Amazon led me to my purpose.
What was the mindset that guided you to make these big changes in your life?
This is one of the hardest questions that I get asked. To be honest, the truthful answer is that it comes down to the power of a decision. The question is, “How bad do you want it?” You need to just go for it, knowing that there will be a lot of obstacles. This is OK. Make it a game.
Be ready for every challenge.
Sometimes you need to hit rock bottom before you are ready to change your life. Ultimately, it comes down to being tired of the same old thing. I was ready to break away from the chains that put me there.
I'm sure there are a lot of single Moms out there that are inspired by your story. How were you able to run an Amazon business while being a stay-at-home Mom?
It's a similar thing as having a full-time job and working on those 15-minute breaks. I encourage women to use their superpowers. When your kids are preoccupied for 5-10 minutes, use that as an opportunity to work on your business. You can get a lot of stuff done if you really are determined to do it in a short period of time.
You have to use your time wisely. Sometimes you will have to wake up before them or work after you put your kids to bed. Again, how bad do you want it? You will find a way if you really want it. The same thing applied to my physical transformation.
I committed to an at-home, 30-minute workout every single day. Sometimes that meant that I had to wake up at 6 am. Sometimes my kids had to do my workout with me! Where there's a will, there's a way.
What were some of the challenges that you faced along your Amazon journey and how did you overcome them?
The biggest challenge that I experienced in my Amazon business was not giving up when things got hard. When you first start out, there are a lot of lessons that you need to learn. Things will get overwhelming. I had to be proactive and say to myself, “I'm going to find a way to solve this problem.”
On the physical side, the hardest challenge I faced was people not supporting my weight loss journey.
When you tell somebody that you are starting a lifestyle change, everybody around you automatically becomes doctors. They let you know why what you are doing is wrong or unhealthy. They actually try to convince you to not do it. These are people who love you the most. Why do they do this? I have no idea.
You don't need anybody's approval. If you want to do something to better your life, there will always be someone that will try to talk you out of it. However, you can't allow others' opinions to influence your decisions.
How did you build up your audience?
My first post was May 10th, 2016. I remember that 62 people liked my post. I was stoked because they believed in me. Immediately, I felt a sense of accountability so I kept going. If I ever fell off the wagon, I wanted to be able to look back and see what I was doing that worked.
I made my Instagram with the intention of it being my personal diary that I shared with the world. I posted every single day and was consistent with it. Weight loss pages started to pick me up. Eventually, the editor from Pop Sugar found my page. She shared my story on the front page of Yahoo and Readers Digest. Soon after, my story went live on ABC Action News in every city and state in the U.S.
It was insane.
After a certain amount of time, it became my new reality. It keeps me on track and motivates me. It's my job to be a role model for people now. It's my responsibility to set a good example. There's no part of me that believes that I will ever be back in the same place that I used to be.
What advice would you give to someone that is interested in starting an online business and making a change in their life?
If someone wants to get started on a weight loss journey, I encourage you to start an Instagram account. It gives you social accountability. Flood your feed with inspiration. Find people that you look up to in the weight loss industry who have lost weight in a healthy way and who post motivational quotes. Spend 5-10 minutes on Instagram every single day. You can do the exact same thing with your business. Get your head in the game.
What advice would you give to someone that is on the fence about joining a course, like ASM?
Obviously, it's a big commitment. However, the social proof is there. There are so many successful Amazon sellers. In my own community, I know at least 50 people. Take your time with the course and do your research. You need to realize that starting a business is not free. You need to invest in yourself and your business.
There are risks involved in anything that has the opportunity to take your life to a whole new level. You have to take a chance. If you don't, you will never know what could be. ASM has been the one thing that has truly changed my life. I wouldn't be where I am today if it wasn't for that course.
