It's difficult to define what the ‘best' online business is.
Each person will have a different definition of what the best business model looks like for them. On top of that, each person will have a different goal as to what they want to achieve from their online business. Before you start a business you must get clear on what you want from your business.
Is it about purely making a lot of money, creating impact, or both? Once you know what matters to you, you can then choose the business model that best suits your goals and the vision that you have for your life.
Below are four opportunities that I believe are the best online businesses to consider starting in 2022.
1. Selling on Amazon FBA
I believe that selling on Amazon FBA is one of the greatest opportunities that exist in 2022. Since the onset of the pandemic, the eCommerce world has exploded in popularity. More and more retail stores are closing down. As a result, people have been forced to shop online. This provides a huge opportunity for someone to launch a product on Amazon and leverage their platform.
Despite the pandemic, Amazon doubled its net profit year over year to $5.2 billion, making it one of the largest companies in the world. When you sell on Amazon, their platform does a lot of the heavy lifting for you — everything from storing and shipping the product, to payment processing, to refunds and more.
As a result, you can focus on creating and marketing a great quality product. Getting a piece of real estate on Amazon's website will only benefit you, long-term. Once you're selling on Amazon, you can grow your brand and sell products on Shopify or your eCommerce website.
Another great perk of being an Amazon seller is that eventually, you can sell your Amazon business. A lot of eCommerce entrepreneurs take this route. There is a big demand for people who want to buy eCommerce businesses.
Keep in mind that this business model does cost money to start, at least a couple of thousand dollars. You have to invest in things like inventory, shipping your product overseas, packaging your product, and paying Amazon seller fees.
If you start with less than a couple thousand dollars you will be limited in the number of product opportunities available to you. In turn, this will affect your profit margins and make it difficult for you to scale up.
2. Being an influencer or content creator
Companies understand how powerful an influencer can be. That's why a lot of big companies partner with influencers to endorse and sponsor their products or services. An influencer creates content that is in a direct relationship with the audience that big companies want to reach.
Successful influencers have followers that like, know and trust them. As a result, they have a tremendous amount of influence when it comes to peoples' buying decisions. Twitter conducted a powerful study which found that 40 percent of Twitter users make purchase decisions as a direct result of a Tweet from an influencer.
Content creators are getting rewarded for the content that they are producing. My YouTube channel makes a 6-figure income every year, solely from the advertisements that are displayed on my channel.
Top YouTubers and podcasters are getting multi-million dollar brand deals and paid partnerships. For example, Joe Rogan recently signed a multi-year deal with Spotify believed to be worth 100 million dollars.
I love being an influencer because I get to help a lot of people and create an impact while growing and improving myself. However, it's not for everybody. It will require that you stay relevant and create content on a consistent basis. If you don't like the idea of putting yourself out there online, you may want to re-think this opportunity.
3. Doing affiliate marketing
This is the process of promoting someone else's product and earning a commission from that. One of the best ways for companies to get more sales is by creating an affiliate program. Affiliate marketing is one of my favorite ways of making money online and you don't need any money to start!
I'm always investing in myself and coming across great quality products that have personally benefited me and my life. Therefore, it's easy for me to share these products with my audience and make a profit from promoting them.
One thing that I love about being an affiliate is that you don't have to shoulder the burden of creating a product. Your only job is to partner with a company and promote their products through your marketing efforts. Affiliate marketing is always going to be an amazing opportunity because it's one of the best ways for a company to grow and sell their products.
I make 7-figures per year just by doing affiliate marketing. If you want to be a successful affiliate marketer, you must be good at creating content, enjoy marketing, and be willing to learn how to generate traffic to your site.
4. Creating an online course
There's a lot of information available on the Internet, but it's not necessarily high-quality. People don't want to learn something by watching hundreds of random YouTube videos online. People want to learn in ways that will help them produce a change in their lives faster.
An online course is a shortened learning curve. Thus, people are willing to invest their money in a course that will save them time. Keep in mind that developing an online course isn't easy. It's definitely an intermediate business model.
However, if you are someone who likes to teach and help others, and you already have a strong audience, I would recommend pursuing this business model. That being said, before you create an online course, I suggest that you first become an influencer and/or do affiliate marketing.
Once you have consistent traffic coming to your site and you've gained experience promoting and marketing a product, then you can dive into course content creation.

I have taken advantage of all four of the opportunities that I've spoken about. At the end of the day, it's up to you to identify which business model is right for you.
You can make money with any of these opportunities. However, the one you pursue should be the one that you most believe in and that aligns with your strengths and the vision that you have for your life. Make 2022 your year and strive to create a life that you never need a vacation from.
