How To Reach Out & Get Access To Successful People

I have created a new and improved version of K Money Mastery which is called, Mastering Book Publishing!

There are many challenges reaching out to and getting access to successful people.

Most of them are extremely busy.  On top of it, they likely get a lot of requests for their time and people that would love to spend time with them.

I know for myself, my life radically changed once I became successful… especially as a public figure on YouTube and everywhere on the internet.

I personally get hundreds of e-mails, messages, comments, requests, etc… every single day and it's become impossible for me to keep up with it all.  That's why I've had to hire a team to help handle all of the e-mails, messages, comments, and moderate everything as well.

Most successful people are inaccessible on purpose.  They have gate-keepers so that they can keep their sanity and be able to focus on the most important parts of their business, while also maintaining a personal life.

However, I can provide some tips on how to reach out to and get access to successful people.  Watch and read below.

3 Tips To Access Successful People

I asked myself, “How would someone get ahold of me and get access to me?” and here's some tips I came up with, that I've also used to get access to successful people.

1. Focus on providing value first and foremost.

Successful people constantly have people that WANT something from them.  People want their time, energy, attention, money, and whatever else.  Often times, they get so many people that want things from them that they might brush off the next well-intentioned person.

The only way to stand out and get on their radar is to be able to add value to them.

Know what their goals and values are and find ways to contribute to THEM.  Don't come at it with an agenda or wanting something in return, but truly add value because you want to.  As a side benefit, they may recognize you for this and reach out to you or provide value back.

An example of this is I had someone reach out to me last year and offered to help me for free.  They were a student of Mastering Book Publishing and said that they noticed some mistakes in some PDF's I had and offered to correct them for free.  This person actually ended up doing ALL the PDF's for my new Mastering Book Publishing program, completely free, even though I offered to pay them!

This was amazingly generous of this person and I will not forget it.  They had no agenda, either.  Didn't ask for anything back – just wanted to say “thank you” for all the value I've added to them and that was that.

If this person reached out to me in the future, you can bet that I would respond back to this person because of how they generously added value to me.

I've had others add value throughout the years also.

I've also had some unfortunate experiences with people that ended up wasting my time.  I've had a few examples where people have offered to help me for free, but then end up disappearing or being unreliable, only costing me more time and frustration.  I often wish I didn't take them up on their offer and had instead paid someone to work instead of someone free.

If you're going to attempt to add value to someone in this way, make sure you're SPECIFIC about what you can do and how you can add value to them, while also being reliable and not waste their time.

NOTE: Offering to take a successful person for “lunch” is also not a good way to add value.  Lunch is something that costs maybe $30, where the successful person's time is worth over $500+/hour if they earn over a million dollars a year.  So if you do the math, it is a huge waste of a successful person's time to meet you for lunch.

ANOTHER DON'T: I had a person that offered to help me for free, stating he would do anything to help me, but there was a catch – he wanted me to coach him for free.  Well, this also was a “bad deal” for me because the work he would be providing me may only be worth $20/hour, whereas my time for coaching is over $900+ per hour.  So to do the math, this was not a fair proposition and would end up costing me.  Again, don't come at it with that hidden agenda – do it to add value and then getting value back is just a bonus.

2. Get on the same level and have them seek you out

Years ago I attended a seminar and saw someone named Dan Lok speak.  He was successful and I was very impressed by him.  I later ended up reading his book, FU Money and it really motivated me at the time to build my online business.

I eventually became successful myself throughout the years and ended up doing a video blog where I mentioned 4 internet marketing books that you must read.  In it, I mentioned FU Money by Dan Lok.

It turns out, someone told Dan Lok about me and how I mentioned his book.  Dan ended up getting several people visit his website and check out his book as a result.

Afterward, Dan Lok reached out to me and invited me for lunch.  After that, we became friends and Dan has since had me speak at one of his events.  I've also interviewed Dan on a popular YouTube video and podcast.

That's an example of how I added value to Dan and then HE REACHED OUT TO ME.  I didn't have to pursue him.  I basically promoted him and his book for free and he recognized it and I got his attention, without meaning to.

When you get on the same level as successful people, they will notice you and reach out to you.  You also can approach them much more easily, because they will have respect for you and there may be opportunities to help each other more.

Examples and ways to add value to others and get on their radar are:

• Promote their website, blog, videos, podcast, products, etc… share their stuff and promote it.  They may notice it and wonder who you are and thank you.
• Contribute to their charities, campaigns, or whatever they're up to – I recently had someone donate $2000 to one of my campaigns to build a house and I reached out to that person to thank them.
• Pay them for their time.  They may have coaching or consulting programs which you can pay for.  Successful people know what their time is worth and are in high demand, so if you want personalized attention from them, pay them for it.

Another example is awhile ago I created a video to share and promote a fantastic Amazon software I've used called JungleScout.  I ended up having a few people go ahead and buy it, which resulted in Greg Mercer, the founder of JungleScout noticing this and reached out to me.

Since then, Greg Mercer and I have hung out in Vancouver and become friends.  This was all because I got on his radar and promoted him, adding value to him.

3. Be Their Top Customer & Raving Fan

I have a few followers of mine that are raving fans and top customers.  I see them all the time, every where supporting me.  They are my top commenters

They are my top commenters on YouTube, my blog, social media, etc…

They purchase all of my products and courses.

They sign up for coaching or whatever else I provide.

As a result, I have actually developed friendships with a few of these people.  I have a few customers that have turned into friends.

As friends, we help each other and talk all the time.  They add value to me, I help them where I can as well, and it's pretty cool.

I also have certain coaches or mentors that I've hired throughout the years that have become friends since as well.  In fact, I still talk to some coaches that mentored me years ago on social media and also run into them at different events from time to time.

Again, it comes down to adding value to the person and likely they will want to add value back.
