This video and blog post is long overdue, but I did it! I successfully reached my goal of competing in the WBFF Fitness Model Competition on June 23rd, 2012 in Vancouver, BC. It was one of the most incredible experiences of my life, and something that I can always look back and feel proud of.
If you followed my previous Fitness Progress Reports, you'll know the dedication and level of commitment that I had to make this a reality. More than actually achieving the goal of walking up on stage and posing in front of an audience of people, the entire journey itself was life-changing. The mental strength that I developed – the discipline, work ethic, and commitment – will be something that I carry with me for the rest of my life in my future endeavours. The process you go through to build a great body is really no different than achieving any other goal in life. The principles remain the same. This entire experience has really just created a deeper sense of confidence and faith that I can make any dream a reality.
Below is the video that I put together of me up on stage at the WBFF and training hard in the gym.

What's Next?
It's important that have another goal lined up immediately after you've achieved a goal. Otherwise, you might hit your goal and then think, “Is this all there is?” Being a great body is an on-going process, as with anything you want to master in life. You never just get there and then “that's it”. Mastery always requires constant growth and improvement.
So for me, this isn't the end, it's just the beginning. I was so inspired by the other athlete's and the entire experience, that I want to do it again next year and enter future competitions. I know I have a lot of work to do, primarily putting on some more muscle, but just the process itself is so rewarding and enjoyable.
I really learned the power in having a specific deadline and event in the future to hold you accountable. I wouldn't have been able to get my body to where it's at if I didn't sign-up and commit to competing in the WBFF. Competition brings out the best in people, and it really challenged me to raise my standards higher than it's ever been before. Not only that, but it gives you something to look forward to and makes today IMPORTANT.
That's something I have applied to other aspects of my life – making stronger commitments by putting myself in situations I can't back out of. I did that recently with a trip and some seminars I wanted to attend. Just by booking my flight ticket, I knew I had to go and travel on that day, and there was no backing out. This way you have to FIND A WAY to make it happen.
Anyways, more to come from me soon. Hope you enjoy the video.
