Being broke doesn't feel good.
But it doesn't mean that you're broken. Anyone can change their financial situation. Some of the most successful people in this world once had huge amounts of debt. However, they were able to bounce back and build multi-million dollar businesses. It comes down to the mindset that you adopt and your willingness to do anything and everything to build a life, on your terms.
Let's dive into 4 things that I'd do if I was broke.
1. Shift your money mindset and habits
Your mindset is what manifests your external reality. You cannot blame the outside world for your money problems. If you are currently struggling financially, there is a reason why you are in this situation. I hate to break it to you but it's not because of anyone else other than you.
You are the only person responsible for your choices and decisions in life. Drop the victim mentality, learn from your mistakes, and focus on solutions.
I encourage you to go inward and figure out how your money beliefs are holding you back in life. According to Brad Klontz, a financial psychologist, you don't need to be an expert in personal finance to improve your financial situation. If you want to be financially successful, you've got to create empowering belief systems and rewrite the money scripts that are hindering your financial growth.
How do you do this? By learning and modeling the success habits of some of the most financially successful people. A great way to do this is to go to the library and consume knowledge. By feeding your mind with wisdom from successful people, it will shift your money mindset.
Here is a list of the books that helped me shift my money beliefs and create the financial freedom that I now have.

2. Get a job
If I was struggling financially, I would find a consistent and stable source of income so that I could support myself. This is the only way that you can start making money immediately. Simultaneously, I would be looking for new opportunities that would pay more. A minimum wage job will only keep you stuck and broke.
A lot of people fall into the trap of assuming that building an online business is a quick and easy way to make money. This is NOT a solution to your financial problems. You won't see results from your online business efforts right away. Building an asset takes a lot of time, energy and money.
If you aspire to build an online business, I would suggest that you work as an online freelancer first.
Get paid to work from home and learn entrepreneurial skills from someone who has already achieved what it is that you want. In order to do this, you can go to a website called, Upwork. Set up a profile, create a video of yourself explaining who you are and what you do, and start browsing the jobs that are posted there.
I encourage you to study other people on Upwork who are in a similar niche to you that are making a lot of money. Model their profiles and spend 1-2 hours per day seeing which jobs businesses are hiring for. Once you know this information, work on yourself and develop high-demand skills.
Similarly, you can reach out to business owners in your niche of interest and demonstrate how you can help them grow their business. Maybe this means you work for someone for one month, for free, as a way of proving yourself to them. Betting on yourself and having a high level of confidence will allow you to stand out and ensure that you get a better paying job.
3. Learn how to manage your money
It's not what you make, it's what you keep that matters. All wealthy people are great money managers. Let's say that you found a way to start making $3,000 per month. If you're making that amount of money, be careful how much you are upgrading your lifestyle. You always need to make sure that you are living below your means.
Hence, if you're making $3,000 per month, you don't want to be spending $3,000 per month on your expenses. If you do this, you will only live paycheck to paycheck and won't be getting ahead financially. The positive cashflow that you can save by living below your means will benefit you in the long-term.
Get yourself in a position where you are saving 15% or more of whatever your monthly income is. Build an emergency fund with that money which would be the equivalent to 3-6 months of your income or expenses. This is money that you don't touch unless you absolutely have to. If possible, continue the habit of saving money every month.
4. Start an online business
Building an online business is one of the best ways to create financial freedom and abundance. It's easier to start and less expensive than a traditional business is. There's a lot of online opportunities to make money online, whether that's selling on Amazon, publishing Kindle books, doing affiliate marketing, or creating online courses.
If I were you, I would share my journey of personal growth on a YouTube channel or a blog. When you come across great products and services, invest in them, and then share those resources with people as an affiliate marketer. The great thing about affiliate marketing is that you don't have to be an expert.
All you have to do is promote other people's products that you have personally benefitted from. This is a huge part of my business today. I love affiliate marketing because, as I grow and evolve, I can share great resources with people. On top of that, I make a commission from my promotional efforts. It's a win-win.
If you want to learn how to get started with affiliate marketing, check out my free masterclass that shows you more about how I've been able to build a multi-million dollar affiliate marketing business.
This is what I'd do if I was broke.
If you follow the four strategies that I talk about above, I'm confident that you will be able to improve your financial situation. However, at the end of the day, everyone is different. You need to decide what works best for you and your life. All that matters is that you are ready to stop being broke and start taking back control of your money.
