Kindle Marketing Secrets – 3 Easy Ways To Promote Your Kindle Book And Get More Sales

If you're an author or Kindle publisher, then you know how important it is to promote your book and get it out there.  Your book could be remarkable and change lives, but if you aren't able to promote it, then you aren't going to see any sales.  That's why being able to MARKET your book is so important – this is what makes someone a best SELLING author.

Strategy #1: Make A YouTube Video To Promote Your Kindle Book

The first strategy is to do exactly what I'm doing right now in this video blog – make a YouTube video and use it to promote your Kindle book.  By creating a quick YouTube video and giving away some free, useful content that is mentioned in my book, it will make you want to buy it to learn more.

YouTube videos can be easily made.  You can either record a quick video yourself talking about what's in your book or even hire someone on Fiverr to create a video for you for only $5.  You can then take that video, upload it to YouTube, and send it out to people.

With YouTube, you're also able to optimize your video for specific keywords, just like you would with your Kindle book.  For example, my YouTube video (and this blog post) is optimized for the keyword “Kindle Marketing” and “Promote Kindle Book”, which means that when people search for those keywords in YouTube or Google, my video will show up somewhere.  As a result, I'll be able to get thousands of views to this video through organic search traffic, which will lead to more sales to my Kindle book.  How cool is that?

Many people depend so much on having Amazon do all the marketing and selling for them.  In my experience, Amazon will drive the majority of your book sales, but you also have to take things into your own hand and market your book even further if you expect to beat your competition and have your books be a lasting success.

Of course, it's recommend that you record the video yourself if you can (especially if you personally wrote your book).  If not, having someone else talk about it will work too.  You can even create a “Book Trailer” and upload it, rank it in YouTube or Google, which can lead to sales for your book.  This likely won't convert as highly as an actual person talking about your book and adding value, but it will still work.

Strategy #2: Give Away Your Book For Free

Now, why the heck would you want to do this?

The reason is simple:  the more books that you give away for free (they download your book), then the higher your book is going to rank in Amazon for your keywords and in your categories.  Not only that, but if you have set up the back-end of your book (a series of books, a squeeze page, a website, product, service, etc…), then giving away your book to people will lead to more money on the back-end.

For example, I've decided to give away my Kindle Marketing Secrets book for free for a limited time.  I'm running something called the KDP Select Free Promotion, which allows me to do a 5-day free promotion on my book every 90 days.  I'm announcing it in this video blog and I want to give this book to you for free.

While I won't make any money on the front-end by doing this, I will benefit in these ways…

• When you download my Kindle book, you're going to help me boost the ranking of my book in Amazon for my keywords.  When my book comes off the free promotion and goes back to paid status, I will be able to profit from the book with it's new rankings in Amazon.
• I am more likely to receive some positive reviews for my Kindle book, which will result in more sales in the future and help make my book more popular.
• You're going to like me more.  By giving you something for free and helping you, you will develop more trust and a “relationship” with me.  As a result, you'll be more likely to buy or purchase stuff from me in the future.  I'm making deposits into my “goodwill” bank account by doing this.
• I give away a free bonus video in my book on how I make over $8400 per month on Kindle, which requires you to enter your e-mail address if you're interested in getting it.  This is a “squeeze page” that I have set up, so I am able to get you to subscribe to my e-mail list and grow our relationship together.  On my e-mail list, I am able to provide more value to you, as well as tell you more about my Mastering Book Publishing program.  This could lead to you becoming a customer of mine down the road.
• I get to feel good about myself for helping people and it's good karma. 🙂

As you can see, I'm more focused on the long-term benefits that giving away my book for free will do for me.  Taking advantage of the KDP Select Free Promotion is a powerful tool if used correctly.  I personally use this strategy to launch ALL of my Kindle books on Amazon.

Strategy #3: Have People Download Your Book Through Your Keyword

I'm about to reveal a  sneaky secret that many people don't know, which will help boost the rankings of your Kindle book for your keyword.

When you have people download or buy your Kindle book, do NOT have them click on the link and directly download or buy it.  Yes, it will still help boost rankings and increase sales, but you preferably want them to organically search on Amazon.com for your keyword first, find your Kindle book, and THEN download or buy it.

The reason is, when someone organically searches for your books primary keyword and then downloads or purchases it, then it tells Amazon how people found your book.  It helps you associate the keywords to your book, which will help boost its rankings for that keyword.

For example, to download Kindle Marketing Secrets, you'd want to do the following:

1. Go to Amazon.com and select the “Kindle Store” from the drop down menu next to the search bar.
2. Search for the keyword “Kindle Marketing” in the search bar.
3. Scroll through the results and pages until you find my book, Kindle Marketing Secrets – 33 Ways To Promote Your Kindle Book And Get More Sales by Stefan James.
4. Download or purchase the book.

This simple little trick will help me now rank my Kindle book for the keyword Kindle Marketing.  Make sense?

You can have people do this for your book too.  When you release it or announce it anywhere, tell people how to download or buy it and give them instructions.  This can really make a difference when you're trying to rank for competitive keywords.

Bonus Strategy:  Ask For Reviews Using A Cute Puppy Picture

I thought I'd include a bonus strategy, which is asking for reviews for your book using a cute puppy picture that you can't say no to.  I learned this from Ryan Deiss and this is something that you can include in your books also to get more reviews.  Let's see if it works below…

One of the best ways to get reviews for your Kindle book is to just ASK for them.  Include a chapter in your book or add it somewhere in the conclusion.  Many people will happily do so if they received value from it.  Keep in mind, you don't want to bribe people to post reviews for your books, as they still need to be within the Amazon terms of service.  But there's nothing wrong with using a cute picture of puppies or animals while doing it!

NOTE: When doing this, be sure to include a link for them that will take them directly to the Amazon review page for your book, which will make it easy for your customers to review it.  This way they don't have to search for and find your book all over again.
