Is Amazon FBA too saturated?
This is a question that I get asked all the time. My answer is always the same – no! As of the last reported period, Amazon has 310 million active customers. It's fair to say that more people are buying on Amazon than ever before. This means that there a lot of opportunities for you to successfully build an Amazon business.
That being said, selling on Amazon has become very competitive. This has caused a lot of potential sellers to assume that the Amazon marketplace is too saturated. If you start an Amazon business with a fear mindset, you are setting yourself up to fail. It comes down to learning how to use Amazon's growth to your advantage so that you never have to worry about saturation again.
Amazon is a fantastic platform from which you can launch your products, but you've got to think bigger. One of the primary ways that people sell their products is through ranking on Amazon's search engine as well as by running Amazon ads.
These are great strategies for selling. However, the challenge is that all of your competitors will be doing the exact same thing. This is why I always look at different ways that I can market my products outside of Amazon. This could be in the form of Yahoo, YouTube, Facebook or Instagram.
These are the most popular websites online.
People are constantly consuming content. Statistics show that 85% of adults consume content on multiple devices at the same time. For this reason, I believe that becoming a content creator is one of the most important skills that you can master.
You want to create content related to your Amazon product. More importantly, you need to research the overall niche that your product is in. For example, if you are selling a spatula, your product is not just in the spatula niche. It may also be in the kitchenware or cooking niche.
Taking a broader perspective gives you more options to create content. Keep in mind that doing this will require that you have an in-depth understanding of your niche. Furthermore, it will require that you identify what people's pain points are and the type of content that they are already consuming.
From there, you want to identify the most popular platform that your demographic visits. By doing this you can attract followers and traffic from those platforms that you can then funnel into your product on Amazon.
This is how you sell on Amazon.
This is the approach that I have taken with my Amazon business. It's all about building a brand and relationships with people by way of high-quality content. If you can successfully do this, people won't ever feel the need to compare your product to competitors.
Why? Because you will have already pre-sold them. Therein lies the power of content marketing. If you follow the strategy that I outlined above, you will never have to worry about saturation again. Are you ready to start selling on Amazon the right way?
