Dont be a dabbler commit to mastery

Life is comprised of a series of challenges that test the limits of our physical, mental and emotional capacities.

Challenges are inevitable, but we can’t use them as excuses to not take action in our lives.

What do you do when you experience a challenge in your life?

Every day you have a choice as to whether or not you want to view challenges as obstacles or opportunities.

In short, you can either be a dabbler or a master.

Have you ever wondered why some people succeed while others fail?  I have some suggestions for why this occurs, and how you can prevent yourself from falling into the dabbler trap.

A dabbler loves the initial rush and excitement of starting something new, however they are not fully invested in and committed to their goals.

When a dabbler hits a plateau and life gets challenging or discouraging, they quit.

Sure enough, a dabbler never achieves success.

Alternatively, a master expects that the plateau is coming and they view challenges as opportunities for growth.

If they can’t find a way, they make a way.

When a master commits to something, they are in it 100%. They don’t get distracted, but rather stay focused on one path until they have achieved their goals.

A master is very strategic about how they spend their time. They are comfortable saying no to certain things in order to achieve their goals.

You need to learn how to say no more often than you say yes. That is a very important skill.

Sure enough, a master is resourceful. They reach out to someone, like a mentor or a coach, that can teach them how to implement this skill into their lives.

Jack Canfield once said, “Success depends on getting good at saying no, without feeling guilty”.

When opportunities are presented to you, you need to ask yourself, “Is this going to be a distraction or is it going to support me in achieving my goals?”

If you can’t say no to distractions now, than what are you going to do when you are successful?

Keep in mind that success brings with it 100x more opportunities and distractions than when you are first starting out.

Focus is the key to ongoing success, which is something that you can condition every day.

Train your brain to see the good in every situation and commit to self-mastery.

In the words of Brian Tracy, “Every situation is a positive situation if viewed as an opportunity for growth and self-mastery”.

Don’t be a dabbler. Commit to mastery. Your success depends on it.
