How To Start An Amazon FBA Business With Little Money

Whenever you start your own business, there is always a peak of uncertainty and a huge learning curve.   That is part of being an entrepreneur.

Pick a product that you can test the waters. You may have to launch a few products until you find the one that you can build a brand around what you are most passionate about.

Building a brand of related products in one particular niche is best because then you can cross-promote the products.

Don’t depend solely on Amazon.  A big mistake people make is that they only rely on one stream of income or traffic. That will work short-term, but if you are not not anticipating long-term changes, you will get into trouble.

You need to focus on multiple ways of marketing and selling – YouTube, blogging, Facebook, Instagram, etc.

You will have a more secure business that will scale much bigger because you are building a brand, which will give you competitive advantage 5,10,20 years from now.

Tatiana and I wanted to take the opportunity to answer some of your questions related to the Amazon business:

What is the best way to get the FBA process down?

First and foremost, get training.  I don’t start any business without having the right training to guide me, from A to Z.

In any business you have to educate yourself. Once you sell on Amazon, then you have to learn how to market, whether that’s learning about Instagram, Facebook advertising, etc. Find new ways to attract people to you and build your brand.

I have heard that Amazon was good a few years back but now it has a lot of competition.  Do you need to invest more to get the profit?

This question drives me insane. A lot of people have a fear about compeititon and saturation. Abraham Hicks believes that a lot of entrepreneurs don’t succeed because they have low confidence.

I don’t worry about competition because I am confident that my products will be successful. The biggest illusion people have is that they want to get rich – that is not the goal.

Rather, the goal is to get rich and STAY rich. The competitive advantage occurs when you build a brand, by adding massive value through a niche and market.  You achieve this through creating content. Always remember that ‘content is king’.

You don’t just want to build an Amazon business, you want to build a physical products business.

Don’t build a one-legged stool, (Amazon), but rather, build a Parthenon, which consists of multiple streams of income (physical products, affiliate marketing, information products, etc.) so that you have a secure foundation.

When you do this, competition doesn’t exist.

How do you make your first sale on Amazon?

The first sale takes time.  Focus on creating an amazing listing, and make sure that you invest in high quality product images.  Once you’ve gotten 10 reviews, you can start turning on Amazon ads.

You can do automatic or manual keywords, and Amazon will drive traffic to your site, for free. From there, it’s a ripple effect.

Its alway a good idea to do a giveaway at the beginning.  Start with a 100 units of a product, but be prepared to give away a little bit of product in order to boost your sales over the long-term.

The most important thing you can do is to build your brand – by doing that, you then have a platform to launch your product.

If you look at people like Tim Ferris or Tony Robbins, they have a very diversified business – seminars, coaching, supplements, affiliate marketing, guest speakers, etc.  They have successfully built a Parthenon.

After Amazon.com, what is the next marketplace I should get into?

Germany and the UK, but it also depends where the demand is – you need to do your research.
