3 Things That Determine The Results In Your Life

3 Things That Determine The Results In Your LifeAfter recently attending Unleash The Power Within with Tony Robbins, one of the most important lessons that was taught was on what determines whether or not we get results in our lives.

Tony Robbins states there’s three factors:

1. Strategy

2. Story

3. State

In this video blog, I go into each of them in more detail and explain how you can use this principle to create more results in your life.

You Need A Solid Strategy

The first thing that you need to create results in your life is a solid strategy towards achieving it.

Want to make money online?

Find a solid strategy and follow it step-by-step until you achieve the desired result you’re after.

Want to lose weight?

Find a solid strategy and follow it!

Success leaves clues.  You don’t have to re-invent the wheel and try to figure things out the hard way.

There’s plenty of courses available that you can invest in, books that you can read, and mentors that you can hire.

However, for most people, they have a solid strategy, yet still don’t produce results with it.  Why?

Is it because the strategy is flawed?

No… there’s plenty of people that have used the exact same strategy to make money online, or perhaps lose weight.

Many have achieved success with the strategy… yet why do many not utilize it?

Change Your Story

limiting storyThe reason why so many people don’t utilize the strategy is because they have a limiting story that is stopping them.

The only thing keeping you from the results you’re after is the story you have about why you can’t have it.

There’s a ton of courses available out there on how to make money online that WORK – yet why don’t people use them?

They have limiting stories such as…

“This won’t work for me.”

“I’m not a tech person.”

“I don’t know anything about marketing.”

“I don’t have the time.”

“I don’t have the money.”

“It’s too competitive.”

“I don’t have the right resources.”

“I’m not a good writer.”

All of these stories weaken and disempower us.  They prevent us from following through or taking action.

When people tell themselves these disempowering stories, it’s really because they are afraid.  They are afraid of failing and not being enough, so they come up with a “story” to protect them from facing their deepest fears.

I’ve seen this time and time again with my Kindle Money Mastery course.

I’ve seen so many people have incredible success with it, quit their jobs, become financially free, etc… but I’ve also seen so many people dabble with it.  I’ve seen people that invest in it but do absolutely nothing with it.  I’ve seen people that give up too soon, come up with excuses, or just don’t fully commit themselves to it.

The same thing goes with people that want to workout.  There’s a zillion ways to get in shape and lose weight.  There’s so many books out there, programs available, personal trainers, etc…

Losing weight and getting in shape isn’t rocket science…

But again, it’s the excuses that people come up with.  It’s the limiting stories we tell ourselves that prevents us from maximizing our lives.

There’s many ways of changing our stories or limiting beliefs, but the easiest is just getting to the truth.

The truth will set you free.

I recently destroyed many limiting beliefs and disempowering stories in the My Money Blueprint video blog I did recently.  I showed the power of getting to the truth and re-framing disempowering stories and creating an empowering alternative.

“This won’t work for me.”

The truth is this WILL and CAN work for me.  The truth is I can MAKE it work for me if I’m really committed.  If others have seen success with something in the past, then I can too!

“I’m not a tech person.”

The truth is that I’m a RESOURCEFUL person.  The truth is if I’m resourceful and committed enough, then I can become a tech person and master anything.

“I don’t know anything about marketing.”

The truth is I’m committed to learning about marketing.  The truth is marketing is a LEARNABLE skill.  I can invest in courses, books or find mentors that can teach me.

“I don’t have the time.”

The truth is I can make the time for whatever I’m committed to.  People that are successful don’t have more time than me, they just more committed.  We’re all given 24 hours in a day, it’s how I use it!

“I don’t have the money.”

The truth is I can make the money for whatever I’m committed to.  The truth is resourceful people find the resources.  The truth is, if I’m really committed, I can find a way to come up with the money.

“It’s too competitive.”

The truth is I can out-compete with anyone if I’m committed enough.  The truth is if I raise my standards I have a competitive edge over anyone.

“I don’t have the right resources.”

The truth is I am RESOURCEFUL.  Resourceful people find the resources.

“I’m not a good writer.”

The truth is I can become a good writer if I’m committed to it.  The truth is I can outsource and leverage myself by finding other writers to write for me.

Your State Determines Your Behaviour

confident stateWhat determines the story that you come up with is your STATE.

If you’re in a lousy state, tired and negative – what kind of story will you come up with?

It will likely be something disempowering.

As a result, you likely won’t be taking any action if you’re in a lousy, tired and negative state.

If you CHANGE YOUR STATE into a confident, energized and positive state, you’ll come with a totally different story.

You will feel EMPOWERED and will be more likely to take massive action.

Your state will be the “fuel” that will pull you towards executing the strategy.

That’s why it’s crucial to CONDITION the emotional states that you want to be in.

You need an unshakable level of certainty and confidence within yourself.

When you’re totally confident and certain, you ONLY see the strategy working.

There’s no doubt or limitation within you.  You are fully committed and will do whatever it takes.

But again, most people are lacking certainty and belief in themselves.  They’re walking around in a lousy state and haven’t mastered their emotions to get them to maximize their potential.

Tony Robbins teaches there’s three ways to change your state:

1. Change Your Physiology

2. Change Your Focus

3. Change Your Language Patterns

By taking charge of these 3 forces, you can radically shift how you feel.

When you change the way you use your body (physiology) and what you focus on, along with what you say to yourself (language), it will biochemically alter your state.  You’ll be in a more resourceful and motivated state which will allow you to come up with better stories and take action.

So, what is stopping you from getting the results you’re after?

If you find yourself coming up short on one of your goals, then I’d look at one of these 3 forces.

Is it the strategy that is not working properly?

Is there a disempowering story that is getting in your way and stopping you?

Or, are you just not putting yourself in a motivated and resourceful state to take action?

If you can determine what is holding you back, then you can change it and get yourself back on track to achieve the results you want.

  • Wow what a great post Stefan. Definitely got me thinking about drilling down on my strategy, story and state to make it even better!

  • Hey Stefan,

Awesome article. Doing my training within the ICF really highlights beliefs, and despite having a strong understanding it never clicked until I framed them like a story. This was a major breakthrough for me. I find that whenever I’m held back, blocked or giving myself some nonsense like “I can’t do this” or “I’m too young”, it’s actually a story that I’m unconsciously repeating in my head. Instead of hunting for beliefs, I’m finding it so much easier to now hunt for these stories, and replace them with something empowering. Your stuff is awesome, keep it up!

  • Andrea

Hey Stefan, im from the UK, please could you recommend a life coach course which is the best to go with in my country?

    • Hey Andrea, I’ve never been through any life coaching courses so there’s none that I could recommend. The best way to become a life coach is to become a successful at something that others see value in and come to you to want to learn from. Also, to continually be growing and expanding yourself… even hiring coaches yourself and learning from mentors.
